Grow your own!
I feel really sad saying this, but its true - growing your own fruits and vegetables is one of the most rewarding things you can do. There is something really special about eating something you have grown yourself and its not just the taste that is so much better although that is one of the best things about it. The taste is so amazing I even though I am in no way a fussy eater there are some vegetables now that I don't like eating from supermarkets because they are just not the same. There are plenty of things you can grow even if you are limited on space and even if you don't have your own garden, you just have pick what you grow wisely. Check out our 'beginners' section for some ideas.
I know I am starting to sound like a broken record on this, but growing your own produce is the only way you can genuinely know what has happened to it. The definition of 'organic' vegetables from the supermarket means it has only been sprayed twice. A lot on 'non organic' fruit and veg has been exposed to radiation in order to make it last longer. My dad used to grow sweetcorn which is one of my favourites and literally used to run down the garden with it and put it in a pot of boiling water on the premise that the flavour begins to deteriorate as soon as you pick it. Actually I think there is some method in his madness!
On top of all of this growing your own will save you a fortune which is something I'm sure we would all be up for at the moment. So what are you waiting for?
